Saskatchewan-UAE Roundtable Highlights Cooperation on Critical Minerals
Saskatchewan is a global leader in critical minerals, ranking first in Canada for mining investment attractiveness and home to 27 of Canada’s 34 designated critical minerals, the world’s largest potash reserves, and high-grade uranium resources.

On the occasion of Saskatchewan’s high-level mining and minerals delegation visit to the United Arab Emirates, led by Jodi Banks, Deputy Minister of Trade and Export Development, the Canada-UAE Business Council (CUBC), in partnership with the Government of Saskatchewan, was pleased to host a closed-door roundtable in Abu Dhabi focused on critical minerals and mining.

The roundtable convened senior government, industry, and research leaders, alongside executives from Mubadala Investment Company, ADQ, and ADNOC Group, to explore opportunities for collaboration across the critical minerals value chain.

Led by Ibrahim Alhosani, Director at Mubadala and Executive Board Member of the Canada-UAE Business Council, discussions highlighted Saskatchewan’s extensive critical mineral deposits, research and innovation strengths, processing incentives, and emerging opportunities for UAE investment, co-development, and technology partnerships.

CUBC thanks all participants for their active engagement in this productive dialogue, which reinforced the growing strategic partnership between Saskatchewan and the United Arab Emirates and underscored shared priorities in advancing secure and sustainable critical mineral supply chains.
