PM Mark Carney and business leaders advance Canada-UAE investment momentum in Ottawa
Ottawa, Ontario - June 12, 2026
Leading Canadian and United Arab Emirates business representatives met with Canadian government officials in Ottawa this week during the Canada-UAE Business Council’s largest board delegation to date, focusing on reviewing trade and investment opportunities and strengthening economic ties between the two countries.
The Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, the Honourable Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, the Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade and the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Finance and National Revenue, joined business executives in a series of engagements to reaffirm the importance of bilateral cooperation, including efforts to strengthen trade and investment flows in key sectors, such as energy and critical minerals, artificial intelligence, agri-food, logistics and infrastructure.

The mission was chaired by The Honourable Jean Charest, Partner at Therrien Couture Joli-Coeur and Co-Chair of the Canada-UAE Business Council, and brought together key Canadian participants from the capital markets and industrial ecosystem, including representatives from National Bank of Canada, TD Securities, Hatch, Trimark Capital, McCarthy Tetrault, Invest in Canada and Cameron Development Corporation.
The Honourable Jean Charest noted "What we are seeing today is the result of decades of trust and a relationship that has become one of Canada’s most consequential global partnerships. Beyond trade, this is a deep, strategic alignment that connects our financial centers and industrial bases. We have reached a level of maturity where the private sectors on both sides are now working in lockstep to deliver projects of truly national significance."

The United Arab Emirates delegation was led by Mr. Musabbeh Al Kaabi, Co-Chair of the Canada-UAE Business Council and Chief Executive Officer of Upstream at ADNOC. It included senior government leaders such as His Excellency Sultan Al Mansoori, Envoy for Canada of the United Arab Emirates Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of Dubai Chambers, and His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Neyadi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Canada.
The delegation featured executive representatives from Mubadala Investment Company, MGX, XRG, ADNOC, Space42, Etihad Airways, Emirates, the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), Essa Al Ghurair Investment, DP World, and Lunate Capital.

"The depth of this relationship is driven by a clear and shared ambition at the highest levels of our leadership. Our mission in Ottawa is to turn our mutual commitment into a catalyst for growth, ensuring our cooperation in critical sectors like energy, infrastructure and AI delivers lasting value for both our nations," said Musabbeh Al Kaabi.
Earlier in the week, ADNOC participated in the Global Energy Show Canada with its largest delegation to date, which brought together leaders from across the energy sector to examine how global markets are shaping investment, infrastructure and supply chains in an increasingly constrained and security-sensitive environment.
The Ottawa visit builds on the commercial momentum ahead of the Canada Investment Summit scheduled for September 2026, which is expected to draw global investors and a high-level Emirati delegation to support major nation-building projects.

With bilateral investment between the United Arab Emirates and Canada now exceeding C$100 billion (approximately AED260 billion), the relationship is expected to continue expanding, reflecting strong political alignment, leadership engagement, and sustained commercial momentum on both sides.
